Privacy

This page explains what information this site handles and why.

Text you check

The checker on the front page works entirely in your browser. Text you paste, or send with the bookmarklet or the address-bar shortcut, is processed on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our server. Text passed with a shortcut sits in the part of the address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers; it may remain in your own browser history.

Messages you send

If you use the contact form we store your name, email address, subject and message so we can read and answer it, together with your country as reported by our network provider. A copy is forwarded to our mailbox. We do not use messages for marketing, and we delete them when they are no longer needed. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated spam; Turnstile processes technical data about your browser under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Logs and counting

Our hosting keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) for security and troubleshooting, for a limited time. When you click a shop link we add one to a daily count for that link position; this count contains no IP address, cookie or other personal data.

Some pages link to Amazon and may link to other retailers through affiliate networks such as CJ. If you follow such a link, the retailer or network may set cookies in your browser to record that the visit came from this site, under their own privacy policies. We receive commission reports, not your personal details.

Cookies on this site

The public pages set no cookies of their own. The editors' sign-in area uses one strictly necessary cookie. See the cookie page.
